Community Trust South is looking forward to advancing its strategic aspiration of a thriving south with the support of six new trustees.

Late last year, Associate Minister of Finance, Shane Jones announced the appointment of Samuel Grant, Bharat Guha,  Margot Hishon (previous Community Trust South Chair 2016 -2019), Maria Pera (Mana whenua endorsed Trustee), Warren Skerrett (previous trustee 2016-2019) and Bridgette Smith to the Community Trust South Board of Trustees.

Community Trust South Acting Chair Stephen Canny welcomed the skillsets the new appointees will bring to the Trust.

“With representation from throughout our region, and community engagement, financial and advocacy expertise, we are well placed to support the Southland Murihiku community,” Mr Canny said.

The new appointees join current trustees Stephen Canny (Acting Chair), Mel Montgomery, Leanne Samuel and Leon Hartnett on the Board of Trustees.

Community Trust South Chief Executive Jackie Flutey said she was thrilled to welcome the new and reappointed trustees to the Board.

“Each trustee brings extensive experience and joins current trustees in a collective passion for the development and success of our rohe (region).”

The first board meeting for the year will be held this Wednesday, 12 February.

Community Trust South is governed by the Community Trusts Act 1999 and provides significant funding to a wide range of community organisations for projects, services and programmes across the rohe (region). Since its inception in 1988 it has distributed $235 million in grants.
