Mrs Hishon brings significant governance experience to the role of Heamana/Chair and having previously chaired the Trust between 2016 – 2018, has extensive knowledge of the Trust’s operations and the community that it serves.
Community Trust South Chief Executive, Jackie Flutey said the Community Trust South Board appointed the role of Heamana/Chair at the Trust’s Board meeting on Wednesday.
Based in Winton, Mrs Hishon holds several governance roles across the central Southland community, including Central Southland Community Support Workers and Able Charitable Trust, and has many touchpoints to the wider community.
Mrs Hishon said it was a privilege to be appointed Heamana/Chair of the Trust for a second term.
“I’m looking forward to building on the Trust’s strong history and encouraging smart investments and effective grants to boost the prosperity, diversity, creativity and innovation across the community we serve. Together, with Trustees and their clear passion for our communities, I believe the Trust will continue to have sustained impact across our rohe”
Mrs Hishon is supported by Heamana Tuarua /Deputy Chair Stephen Canny, and current Trustees Sam Grant, Bharat Guha, Leon Hartnett, Mel Montgomery, Maria Pera, Leanne Samuel, Warren Skerrett, Bridgette Smith and board intern Emma Philpott.
Mrs Hishon replaces outgoing Heamana/Chair Kirsty Pickett.
Mrs Hishon acknowledged outgoing chair, Kirsty Pickett, for her mahi in chairing the board during the last 18 months, and the contribution she made to the Trust and the communities that it serves during this time.
Community Trust South is the guardian of a community endowment of over $250 million. By distributing millions of dollars in grants, scholarships and community loans each year, the Trust works hard to make the south a place where people can thrive.
